SAMPSON HALL (STEPHENS COLLEGE)
Sampson Hall is a facility at Stephens College in Columbia, MO that houses a state-of-the-art anatomy lab, high-tech classrooms, student study and gathering spaces.
CLIENT: Stephens College
LOCATION: Columbia, MO
PROJECT SCOPE:
Donor walls come in all shapes, sizes, and shades, and Sampson Hall’s donor wall is a great example of our limitless creativity! This custom fabricated donor wall featured five-sided acrylic columns with illumination on all sides. In order to achieve an even glow among each gradient, LED lighting was installed along the backplate of the boxes to provide a consistent lighting source. The donor plaques were also made of acrylic and adhered together to form a U shape, which allowed them to slide over each column. To provide versatility, we drilled holes along the columns’ sides so the plaques could be easily changed or relocated among the column. Black vinyl was applied to the plaque’s face for each donor name.
For the interior/ADA code compliant sign package, we provided room ID signs (with or without a window slot), restroom signs, safety signs, and an evacuation map holder. The signs consisted of three components: the back plate featured a clear, non-glare acrylic. Portions of the acrylic were painted gray with a colorful, striped pattern. The middle plate was an additional acrylic plate with only the back painted gray. It has adhered to the backer plate and a had a low opacity appearance to really set off the lettering placed on top. The front plate, a clear acrylic, had an etched face applied to form a stripe pattern. Standoffs were used to mount the etched acrylic plate above the painted stripe pattern. White raised lettering and clear braille were applied to the middle plate.
